15 Months Ago Conservatives Were Was Looking at 280 Seats. Tonight John Moore on What Changed.

A Canadian majority government was already taking shape before anyone voted tonight. John Moore from Newstalk 1010 is one of the people who has been watching it happen in real time and he is not surprised by any of it.

What is surprising is who is still waiting. John has sources telling him there are Conservative MPs who deliberately held back from crossing the floor so they would not personally be the vote that handed Carney a majority. They were waiting for tonight. He cannot quite figure out why, and that gap between what he knows and what he understands is worth sitting with.

Mark Carney said he will not prorogue Parliament. That is a specific commitment with a specific structural consequence. John Moore is the person to explain why it matters.

Topics: Canadian majority government, Liberal majority, byelection results, floor crossers, prorogation, party whip, Quebec Terrebonne
