Humanoid robots at McDonald’s are not a concept anymore. Shanghai is testing four of them right now: one in full uniform taking orders, one in a chef’s hat, one delivering trays to tables, and one small enough for kids to climb on. They dance. They come out from behind the counter. Kris Abel calls it the robot squad.
What does it feel like to watch something that looks genuinely fun and realize the fun part might be the distraction? McDonald’s is one of the last places where a teenager can walk in with no experience and come out with real training, real leadership skills, and a resume that actually gets them hired somewhere else. That pipeline has a robot in it now.
AccuWeather added ChatGPT so you can ask when to go for a run. A Toronto bakery made chocolate planet truffles to celebrate Project Hail Mary. Good News Tuesday delivered. The robot question is still open.
