Great Concerts, Thin Biography: The Michael Jackson Movie Reviewed

Michael Jackson’s biopic is in theatres now, and whether it deserves the praise depends entirely on what you want from it. Meanwhile, a UK judge just called Amy Winehouse’s father an unreliable witness, and two names got cut from a film before anyone could stop them.

Nobody Told Him He Got Cut
A UK High Court judge found Mitch Winehouse an unreliable witness this week and ruled Amy’s confidants could keep her personal effects, including a dress from her final performance worth nearly a quarter of a million dollars. Sydney Sweeney filmed a scene for The Devil Wears Prada 2. So did Anna Wintour. Neither made it to screen.

Spectacular Concerts, Thin Biography
The Michael Jackson biopic gets the music right. Two actors capture the King of Pop convincingly, and the concert recreations are the highlight of a film that stops at 1988 and skips everything that made his story complicated.
