NEW – Orange Peels, Grey Hat Hackers, and the Bounty That Pays You to Snitch

Spring yard tips and a cybercrime bounty program make for an unlikely pairing, but both come down to the same idea: things you already have access to are more useful than you think.

Your Orange Peel Is Working Harder Than You Are

Dried and ground into powder, orange peel repels ants through a compound insects cannot stand. Whole, it works as a seed starter. Mixed with soapy water, it targets aphids. Baking soda handles moss in the grass, weeds in the pavers, and the cracks where seeds keep landing every spring.

The Hackers Who Could Go Either Way

Fortinet, one of the world’s largest cybersecurity companies, has partnered with Crime Stoppers International on an anonymous cybercrime bounty program. Andy Baryer got a tour of their Burnaby facility and came back with a term most people have not heard: grey hat hackers. Not quite criminal, not quite ethical. The bounty program is designed specifically to get them talking.
