Ozempic, Peptides, and the Shortcut That Might Cost You More Than the Weight

Ozempic side effects are starting to tell a story that the billions of dollars in prescriptions written haven’t caught up to yet. Tony Chapman has been paying attention.

The drug eats into bone mass and muscle mass, Chapman says, and when you stop, the weight returns without the skeleton to support it. His view is nuanced: if you cannot move and need to lose significant weight to start, that is a legitimate use. If you are 20 pounds overweight and do not want to change your habits, that is the shortcut he would wait on.

His broader concern is peptides: growth hormones marketed as the fountain of youth that can allegedly also grow cancer cells. The pattern follows Viagra, he says, a drug repurposed into a pharmaceutical machine. The question he thinks everyone should be asking first: adding years to your life, or life to your years?
