This weekend watch list separates films still on the wish list from favourites already worth defending. A transformed Tom Cruise, a younger Tony Soprano and a surprisingly comic Jason movie each offer a different reason to press play.
Eighty-Seven Minutes at Crystal Lake
A short runtime isn’t the whole case for Jason Lives. Ryan puts its sense of humour at the centre of his recommendation, alongside two films he’s eager to see. One casting detail gives the Sopranos prequel a connection that goes beyond the characters.
Familiar Faces, Fresh Expectations
A fourth trip through Ted Lasso’s earlier episodes sets a high bar for its return. The streaming selection also weighs a Reacher spin-off and true crime, before The Gentlemen supplies an aristocratic estate with an unconventional business underneath it.
